New Ozone Generator System for Dental Unit Waterlines

If you are interested in this new Ozone System for Dental Unit Waterlines and Surface Cleansing please telephone or email for price and delivery.

Ozonated water kills bacteria and viruses on contact. The machine safely produces ozonated water and can be a valuable asset to your dental practice. The unit is a wallmounted or countertop sized machine that quickly and safely dissolves ozone gas into ordinary distilled water. For convenience, the water is contained in standard dental-unit water bottles. To use, simply fill the bottle with distilled water, place the tube with diffuser stone into the bottle and replace the lid. Ozonate for 4/5 minutes or longer if necessary. After several minutes, aqueous ozone solution is ready to use.

Ozone is useful as a disinfectant for killing bacteria, viruses and mold spores and rendering harmless contaminates that are on instrument and device surfaces.

Ozone dissolved in water decays to oxygen, with a half-life of 30 minutes at 20°C (68°F), and at higher temperatures decomposes more rapidly. Therefore it cannot be readily bottled for extended storage for later use. It is desirable to manufacture ozone, dissolve it in water, and use the ozone/water composition (bring it into contact with the surface to be treated) as quickly as possible.

It is well known that dental-unit water lines (the tubes that connect the high-speed handpiece, air/water syringe and ultrasonic scaler to the water supply) will develop a bacterial or fungal growth on their inner surfaces, referred to as a biofilm. Tests show that, if not properly maintained, these water supply systems may have bacterial counts in excess of one million colony forming units of bacteria per millimeter of water (>1x106 CFU/ml). While bacterial counts in dental units are generally less then 1x106, they are usually far in excess of the American Dental Association (ADA) recommended bacterial levels of below 200 CFU/ml in dental water supply systems.

According to the ADA, "Dental unit water systems designed for general dental practice must be regularly maintained in order to deliver water of an optimal microbiologic quality." In 1993, the Centers for Disease Control recommended that dental waterlines be flushed each clinic day to reduce the microbial load. The ADA suggests that in order to improve the quality of water, dental unit water lines should be treated with one or more commercial devices.
Published research shows that ozonated water can significantly reduce the presence of biomolecules in dental-unit water lines. In addition, ozonated water will quickly breakdown into plain, pure water and not leave-behind any hazardous residue like other disinfecting methods can.
